An individual contains 5-7 L of blood in  his body, which represents about 8% of its total weight. Blood is made up of plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Its distributes oxygen, hormones and nutrients to all cells, all tissues and all organs of the body, then get rid of their waste. Blood also plays a role in immune defense.
